I found the poem “The Land of Counterpane” very interesting. The poem is about a boy who is sick often and how he spends his days. The little boy lays in bed all day and uses his imagination as an escape. He uses little toy soldiers around him and pretends that his knees are hills that the soldiers have to go over and he pretends he is a giant. He also pretends that his bed sheets are waves of an ocean that boats have to cross. He says the toys keep him company and make him happy all day while he is sick in bed. I liked this poem because it shows that although this little boy is sick very often, he doesn’t let that bring him down. He still makes the best of it by using his toys and his imagination to pass the time and bring joy to the times he is sick in bed.
