Amelia Badelia tells of a house keeper who just started working for a new client, who leave a list of thing they want her to do. While she is working she confuses what the list tells her to do. For example, when they tell her to draw (meaning close) the curtains, she draws a picture of them instead. As well as cutting up the towels when asked to change them and putting dust on the furniture when asked to dist them. When her employers came home they were shocked and angered at her work, but soon forgave her when they tried her pie.
Amelia Badelia is a good example of how confusing the English language is. Such as the words dessert and desert. The former being a meal at the end of celebrations and the latter being a dry climate with little rainfall that is hot in the day and cold in the night.
